📢 French crypto gaming legal framework – ‘JONUM regime’ – under European Commission review.

The ‘JONUM regime’ was adopted in France in 2024 and creates an experimental regulatory framework for blockchain gaming and NFTs under the supervision of the gambling authority – the first law of its kind in Europe.
On October 22, the French government notified the EC of draft regulations on JONUM (games based on “monetizable digital assets”):
– a draft Decree detailing the experimental framework for JONUM, notably the types of games eligible and the conditions under which rewards in the form of crypto-assets may be granted;
– a draft Order defining the mandatory warning message on the risks of excessive or pathological gaming.
👉 This notification opens a three-month standstill period during which stakeholders may submit comments on the wording and impact of these draft regulations.
